We are happy to report that GFF Alumnus Longmei Ge will be graduating from CCHS this May. Next, she will attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she will major in Chemical Engineering. She will also participate in the Campus Honors Program as a Chancellor’s Scholar.
Longmei has had a variety of educational experiences as a GFF sponsorship student. Last summer, she attended the “Collegiate Writing: Awakening into Consciousness”course at the University of Chicago. In 2020, she attended the pre-collegiate Materials in Science and Engineering course at Stanford University, where she studied exoplanet and star-system research. In the summer of 2019, Longmei studied Marine Biology at Brown University.
“I will be graduating this May—I can’t believe it’s the end of high school. A few of my friends are hosting parties, which will be fun (but also a little bittersweet), and my parents have promised me a barbeque! Although it’s a bit sad to leave home, I’m excited to start the next chapter of my life,” Longmei says.
“I will be heading to U of I in the fall as a chemical engineering major and part of the Campus Honors Program as a Chancellor’s Scholar. I can’t wait to head off to Champaign, where I’ll probably be seeing a few familiar faces (Arka and Alex are also going to UIUC for electrical engineering and art, respectively), but I hope to meet a lot of new people. I’ve already gotten in touch with some other [students] at U of I, and they seem like excellent people that I can’t wait to meet in person,” Longmei exclaims!
“Thank you so much for supporting me on this journey, though I’ll be absolutely sure to keep in touch—graduation pics will be coming your way,” Longmei adds.
Congratulations, Longmei… We are so proud of you!
