Maya Benyas—2019 & 2018 GFF Alumnus
Maya has been busy with school work and performing music since we last checked in with her. Maya and family recently traveled to Michigan, where she played a recital at her grandmother’s assisted living residence. Maya performed two movements from the Bach suite she had been practicing and the Haydn Cello Concerto in D Major.
Arkaprabha Kolay—2019 GFF Alumnus
Arkaprabha Kolay has been busy with science and math projects this year. In early March, he participated in a Science Fair at Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Carbondale, Illinois. His project involved the Spectroscopic Study of Natural Plant-Based pH Indicators.
Gabriela Benyas—2018 & 2017 GFF Alumnus
Gabriela has been busy since we last spoke with her. As President of National Honor Society, she led the Induction Ceremony for the incoming class at Carbondale Community High School. She also finished her last of seven college auditions at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Eric Dollinger—2015 GFFer
Eric Dollinger will complete his degree in Electrical Engineering at University of Notre Dame in May 2020. As a member of the Notre Dame Rocket Team, Eric has been putting his skills to work by perfecting the rocket’s air braking payload.
Aisha Ruperto—2018 GFFer
Aisha has been very busy with both school and work. In addition to preparing for her last high school season of soccer, Aisha has been working weekends at Tom’s Place as their pastry chef.
James Cradit—2014 GFFer
Last summer, James Cradit completed an internship at CVS Health in Woonsocket, RI, where he worked as an experience design intern on several CVS initiatives — the HealthHUB and Beauty IRL. He delivered a research presentation to the Chief Marketing Officer in collaboration with another intern in his department.
Peter Huh—2017 GFFer
During his first semester at Yale, freshman Peter Huh has been taking classes in Chinese and Microeconomics. He is also participating in a seminar on how to write the modern essay, where students must think creatively about the world around them and write about it in a captivating way that appeals to a general audience.
Shruti Kumar—2014 GFFer
Shruti is currently in a combined BA/MD program at University of Missouri-Kansas City, and last August earned her white coat, beginning the clinical part of her education. She has been seeing patients in the outpatient internal medicine clinic once a week. This was her first actual clinical rotation as part of the team she was assigned to at her White Coat Ceremony.
Eli Tsung—2018 GFFer
Currently in his junior year at CCHS, Eli is heavily involved in the music program as section leader and alto saxophone player. His talents earned him a seat in the All-District Band, and he played in the Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra’s most recent concert.
Zeyad Moustafa—2017 GFFer
Zeyad is in his second year as a computer science major at Vanderbilt University. Summer 2019 took him to Bethesda, Maryland’s National Institutes of Health where he interned in the field of machine learning applications in medical question-answering. He is a teaching...
