Ryder Hales, a 2016 scholarship winner of the Garwin Family Foundation’s CCHS Student Sponsorship Program for Talented Students in Arts, Sciences and Math, just completed his Mentorship-Model Internship in the Culinary Arts under the guidance of Chef Lasse Sorensen of Tom’s Place in DeSoto, Illinois. In his report, Ryder shares what he learned about the restaurant business, his new culinary skills, and insights about life gleaned during the two-month program.
