Maya Benyas arrived at Stanford to begin her summer program in Physics. After settling into her dorm, she began the process of meeting her program and dorm mates. Things were off to a great start!
During her first week at Stanford, Maya learned about Einstein’s Theory of Special Relativity, and moved from there to length contraction, classical and relativistic transformations, then classical and relativistic mechanics. Whew.
In her spare time, there have been sightseeing adventures, team-building, and group activities. It has been a wonderful first week.
During her second week at Stanford, Maya studied black holes, quantum mechanics, and spectroscopy. Free time was filled with card games, movies, bonfires (with s’mores), and sand volleyball, along with visits to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Stanford’s particle accelerator. Wonderful experiences inside and outside the classroom.
In her final week at Stanford, Maya was introduced to quantum mechanics and Bell’s theorem among other physics principles. She chose to write her final paper on string theory.
