We have heard from GFF Alumnus Elaina Xiao who is currently attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
“My time at UIUC has been a lot of fun! Although I am used to being away from home from attending IMSA, college has been very different. It has been very freeing being able to pick my own class times and subjects. I’ve delved further into CS while also taking classes for economics and Chinese. The CS classes are all online and focus on doing a little bit every day which has helped me retain much more information,” Elaina says.
“With such a large campus, I’ve also been able to meet many new peers and partake in fun traditions such as dances at a barn (referred to as a Bance). The campus is also very pretty and there are so many places I still need to explore, although the engineering quad is probably my favorite. Additionally, living so close to “Green Street” means I’m dangerously close to many restaurants and have a goal to try as many as possible during my four years here,” Elaina adds.
We are so happy to hear that you are enjoying your first semester at UIUC,Elaina. We wish you much success!
