Anjalika “Angie” Mohanty, a member of the inaugural class of GFFers, is a junior at George Washington University (GWU) in Washington, D.C. , where she is majoring in international affairs with a concentration in global public health. She tells us that being in D.C. reminds her daily of the GFF because she “got [her] first taste of the city” during her enrichment program sponsorship.
This past summer, she expanded her studies through a month-long public health course in Dakar, Senegal. During the immersion, she volunteered at La Pouponnière, an organization serving infants whose mothers died during childbirth. Her time in Senegal allowed Angie to practice and improve her spoken French, which is being used this semester, as she is in Strasbourg, France, for a semester for coursework on European identities and the impact of war.
Angie is also a member of the Alpha Pi chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at GWU, and she is proud to serve as the chapter’s newly established co-chair of diversity and inclusion.
